History
Iwakiri Bikkodo was founded in 1916, and has been manufacturing Satsuma tinware, a traditional craft designated by Kagoshima Prefecture, for over 100 years. The company was founded when Mr. Toichiro Iwakiri started working on tin pipes (snake pipes). Later, Toichiro thought that tinware had more potential than pipes, so he apprenticed his son, Noboroku, to a long-established tinware manufacturer in Kagoshima, opening the door to the world of tinware.
The tinware produced by Iwakiri Bikkodo, which began in this way, has been used for many years because of its non-toxicity and unique warmth, and the manufacturing process has been handed down from generation to generation.

In line with the project concept of "preserving tradition while infusing it with new sensibilities and technology, deepening local characteristics, and disseminating its appeal to the world at large," Iwakiri Bikkodo produces not only Sake Cups, but a wide variety of other products as well.
Although Iwakiri Bikkodo is a long-established traditional company, it has not rested on its laurels, but has instead pursued an innovative approach of refining its traditional skills and developing them by incorporating new ideas.
Products Characteristic

The craftsmen create the optimum thickness by shaving the inner and outer surfaces and judging this by the feel of their fingertips and the advanced technique to shave to the nearest 1/1000th of a millimeter. They ensure the functionality and the texture on the user's hand is taken into consideration.
