History

We are pleased to introduce Mr. Katsunori Takahashi, one of the most experienced glass artists in Japan, who made his debut as a glass artist after graduating from university in the 1980s and has since been active in glass production for many years.
When he was a student, he was fascinated by glass works from all over the world and decided that he wanted to be involved in this business.
At that time in Japan, most glassware was produced in factories by designers and craftsmen. Few people had their own glass studios and were active as "artists" who were engaged in the entire process from design to production of glass works. After meeting his teacher, who was one of the few pioneers in this field, he became an apprentice and started his journey to become an "artist. After honing his skills and individuality under his mentor, he set up his own studio in Fukuoka in 2002, and since then, he has held many solo exhibitions in department stores and galleries in Japan, gaining popularity up to the present. In addition to his activities as an artist, he is also involved in training younger artists.

Product characteristic
The piece below is a sake cup from the "Hanafubuki(Folower snowstorm)" series, one of Mr. Takahashi's representative works. The design of randomly scattered patterns is meticulously calculated and is one of Mr. Takahashi's specialties. To create the pattern, pink and white glass are blended. The pink glass is large and round, and the white glass is small and rounded. If the size, shape, or color ratio is uneven, it will not result in a beautiful Hanafubuki. Considering the softness of the molding differs depending on the color, the blending and prototyping were repeated until a beautiful Hanafubuki was achieved. Mr. Takahashi says, "I want customers to feel the tense form and gentle touch of the glass in their hands, which only air-blown glass can provide.
The Hanafubuki series is reminiscent of Japanese cherry blossoms. Pouring sake into this glass while dining will surely be a blissful experience.
